Architectural precast panels for the Geelong Library

The making of ‘The Dome’

Otway Precast is proud to have been involved in the multi-award winning design and construction of the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.

We worked in conjunction with ARM Architecture and Kane Constructions and manufactured 32 exposed aggregate panels and 120 structural panels to create the 30-metre-high structure. The architectural precast panels were used to retain the ground for the basement level and then create the cores for the internal stairs and lift shafts. The project involved the use of REID graphic paper from Finland and aggregates from Barossa Quarries, Angaston SA.

The east elevation is the largest of its kind in Australia and forms a key component in the iconic dome structure. This project has received a lot of positive feedback and excellent reviews.
